As a center of European culture with a rich and turbulent history, Austria’s capital offers at least two great reasons for a visit.
Walk in the footsteps of Emperor Franz and his Sisi.
It's no coincidence that Vienna has been voted the most livable city in the world several times, and has been home to many famous figures, both in the past and present
Situated along the Danube, Vienna is home to almost two million people and attracts over six million visitors every year. In the various "Grätzel", also known as neighborhoods, districts, or quarters, unique lifestyles unfold. Discover which one suits you best.
You might be enchanted by the atmosphere at “Naschmarkt”. Located in the Mariahilf district, it's the largest market in Vienna. In addition to the classic offerings of fruits and vegetables, you'll find gourmet shops, international restaurants, and a flea market spread over more than two hectares.
The first district, known as the "Innere Stadt," is also a great destination. Although not densely populated, it serves as the central hub of Vienna. Here, you’ll find numerous iconic buildings such as the famous Vienna State Opera, St. Stephen's Cathedral, and the Hofburg Palace.
Also worth a visit is the 13th district "Hietzing". Relive past eras and take a carriage ride through the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace, just like Sisi herself. Afterward, consider a visit to “Tiergarten Schönbrunn”, the oldest zoo in the world.
Our tip: Plan to spend at least three days exploring the city, or you might find yourself running out of time.
The journey is convenient with CFL and the ÖBB night train. After traveling from Luxembourg to Koblenz, you change trains, and while you sleep peacefully, you’ll arrive in the morning at Vienna's central train station.
