Route description
"Voie bleue Moselle"
Get off the beaten track to discover the Greater Region. The route takes you towards the Moselle which you follow to go towards Thionville before continuing on the Voie Bleue, still along the Moselle.
At any time you can take the train to get to your destination, opt for a relaxing 2-day ride.
You leave Luxembourg station in the direction of the Vallée de la Pétrusse, the green lung of the city.
You cross the picturesque old town following the "Bisserwee" towards the Pulvermühle. On the bike path along the Alzette, towards the mill of Gantenbein and the Itzigerstee to arrive at the park of Hesperange. At the height of the campsite, you ride to Fentange to reach the Roeserbann. Outside of rush hour traffic is bearable and it should be noted that the entire route goes through cycle paths and fairly quiet roads.
You pass from Bettembourg to Dudelange and then to Zoufftgen where you enter French territory. After 42 kilometres and after about two hours of riding you have left the small towns of Roussy-le-Village, Roussy-le-Bourg and Cattenom behind you and you reach the banks of the Moselle. From now on, you just have to follow the course of the Moselle (Voie Bleue) and there is no risk of getting lost.
Don't forget to take a break on one of the charming terraces in Thionville. On the passage through Uckange, Mondelange and Talange, the kilometres follow each other and are not alike; magnificent landscapes alternate with commercial and industrial areas. Your 85-kilometre tour ends in Metz with its beautiful historic city centre.

Day 2: Metz - Nancy (71km)
Go for a short visit in Metz before taking the Voie Bleue, signposted Voie Verte V 50.
The region will surprise you with the many small lakes and ponds. You enter the territory of the department Meurthe et Moselle and from Pagny-sur-Moselle the cycle path follows the side canal of the Moselle to Pont-à- Mousson, a town rich in historical heritage.
You approach Nancy, the landscape is marked by the confluence of the Moselle and the Meurthe. Discover Nancy and its Place Stanislas. Opt for an overnight stay in this charming town before returning by train to Luxembourg.
