Route description

During this short trip you will discover the nice suburbs and green landscapes of the urban south-west of Luxembourg. As this tour is composed of several regional cycle routes (included on the LBC maps) a GPS navigation is useful.

Leave the station at the main building or by the underpass on this side. In front of the station, the tour starts in a narrow street called “Schwaarze Wee” on the national cycling path PC8 Piste cyclable de la Terre rouge in direction of Linger. At the main road, it is advised to use the pedestrian crossing to reach the former railway embankment on the opposite side of the road.

From Linger you follow the PC12 Piste cyclable de l'Attert for four kilometers and, at a playground, you turn right to follow on a regional cycle itinerary the signposting “Schouweiler-Gare”. After a climb in Schouweiler, shortly after the last houses, take left on the cycle path.

By following the bicycle signposting “Bettange-sur-Mess” you will pass the tiny village of Sprinkange. After passing through Bettange-sur-Mess, follow the signposting “Dippach-Gare” then “Dippach” and finally “Reckange”. The track to Reckange announces a short but steep climb before a steep downhill section.

From Reckange the PC9 Piste cyclable du Faubourg Minier takes you via Pissange and Limpach to Sanem. Now take PC6 Piste cyclable des Trois Cantons in direction of Pétange.

After arriving at the large roundabout in Bascharage you follow PC12 to reach the former railway embankment you crossed at the beginning of the tour. Take to the left to return to Pétange station.

Our practical advices for your cycling adventures

Plan like a pro
  • Download the GPX file, which is available at the top of the page and integrate it into the navigation application of your choice.
  • Bicycle tours are also available on geoportail.lu.
  • Maps of the Luxembourg cycling network, that have been produced by ProVelo.lu, are available in CFL sales centers. Get one of them so you can always find the right way.

Safe cycling
  • Make sure your bike is in good condition and meets legal requirements before departure.
  • Always wear a cycling helmet that fits your head and ensure that the neckband is resealed. Brightly coloured clothes make you more visible.
  • Anticipative and cautious driving greatly reduces the risk of an accident.

Your train journeys
  • Before boarding, check the timetable and stay tuned about works on the railway network and rail replacement services on cfl.lu and the CFL mobile app.
  • Board the train at the intended location and put your bike in the provided space.
