Route description
From Wiltz station ride up to the main street, turn right and follow this street in direction of Ettelbruck / Bastogne, until you reach the cemetery where you turn right. From here the PC20 Piste cyclable de la Wiltz and from the Belgian border onwards the cycle paths RAVeL L164 and RAVeL 163, following nearly exclusively the former railroad track Wiltz – Bastogne, will lead you to former Bastogne-Sud station, 300 m from the city’s central square, where many terraces invite to take a break.
Shortly before Bastogne, it is possible to visit the Mardasson Memorial and the Bastogne War Museum dedicated to the Second World War, which offer a particular emphasis on the Battle of the Bulge.
From Bastogne-Sud station the Pré-RAVeL L163 continues in direction of Martelange. After 1,5 km, take the Pré-RAVeL L618 on the left (not suitable for racing bikes).
Follow this well signposted former railroad track to Martelange at the Belgium-Luxembourg border. Leave Martelange by the road C.R. 311 in direction of Perlé (1,5 km,). The PC18 Piste cyclable des Ardoisières will lead you past the Slate Mine Museum to Koetschette. From here, the PC17 Piste cyclable de l’Ouest will bring you to Noerdange.
Just before Noerdange, join the PC12 Piste cyclable de l’Attert and follow it straight on in direction of Pétange.
The track from Bastogne to Hagen is part of the EuroVelo route EV5, which connects London via Luxembourg to Brindisi in the South of Italy.
